Child Rights Awareness

Every child is born with fundamental rights — the right to life, education, health, protection, and freedom from exploitation. Yet, millions of children across the world are denied these basic rights every day. At Webcodian Foundation, we believe that childhood must be protected, nurtured, and celebrated. Through our Child Rights Awareness programs, we are working to build a future where every child not only survives but thrives.

Child Rights Awareness is not just a campaign — it is a movement to educate communities, empower children, and ensure that government policies and societal behavior align with the best interests of the child. Despite laws in place, many children still suffer from child labor, child marriage, trafficking, and denial of education and healthcare. The first step toward change is awareness.

Through our various initiatives, we conduct school workshops, street plays (nukkad nataks), slum outreach programs, and interactive awareness sessions that teach both children and adults about child rights — including the Right to Education (RTE), Right to Protection from Abuse, Right to Identity, and Right to Participate in decisions that affect their lives.

In 2023, our “Bachpan Ki Awaaz” campaign reached over 20,000 children and parents across rural and urban communities. We collaborated with teachers, local NGOs, and community leaders to create safe spaces for children to express themselves and speak about their challenges, hopes, and dreams.

One of the most emotional and inspiring moments came during a school session where a 10-year-old girl confidently stood up and said, “I have the right to study and not get married early.” That moment reminded us why awareness matters — because a child who knows her rights can stand up for herself and for others.

We also train parents, teachers, and frontline workers (like Anganwadi and ASHA workers) on child protection laws, reporting mechanisms (like Childline 1098), and signs of abuse or exploitation. Our materials are designed in easy-to-understand formats with visuals, stories, and real-life examples.

Special attention is also given to vulnerable groups — children with disabilities, orphans, street children, and children in conflict with the law. We ensure that they are not just protected but given equal opportunities to live with dignity.

In addition, we use social media campaigns, awareness posters, and community radio to spread information to remote areas. Our goal is to create a child-friendly ecosystem where awareness leads to action — and every adult feels responsible for protecting childhood.

At Webcodian Foundation, we believe that children are not the future — they are the present with potential. When we give them a voice, we unlock a stronger, more inclusive society.
